Let's not forget that this is all being sold to the climate-deniers as the "End Times", the ultimate good being all these disasters will prompt Jesus to return and rapture all the white American evangelicals from the tribulations and curses listed in Revelation.

Yes. It's terrifying stuff, really.

I recently read an opinion piece somewhere (I wish I could remember where), that suggested that one of the reasons that Trump is so interested in Greenland right now is that the ongoing climate change and the melting ice will reveal new sources of natural resources for us to exploit, as well as opening new shipping lanes through the arctic. I mean...WTF??

Jo, this was so well put and beautifully written - but so devastatingly and brutally honest about what's happening now and I feel all the despair! How can it be that millions of people don't see this implosion coming and believe that those of us who do are completely and utterly delusional? There's nowhere to run and hide from this. How do we fight back?

I hear you, Lynn. It is devastating. But I truly believe my suggestions are the way to building a new world and genuinely resisting. I.e. creating community resilience networks that operate outside capitalist logic. Growing food and generating energy locally. Sabotaging the machinery of extraction wherever possible and necessary. Reconnecting with ancestral wisdom about living within planetary boundaries. And rejecting the individualism that has isolated us from each other and the earth, and instead building collective power.

These are tangible. These disrupt. These are something we can all participate in TODAY. This is a form of systemic civil disobedience against capitalist extraction.

Sometimes the resistance feels small. But if as many of us as possible do it regularly it makes an enormous difference.

Thank you for this. I needed to hear that someone else is also really angry and thinking as I am.
