The way mainstream media ignores this and every other outrageous atrocity this government is committing with BIPARTISAN support makes them just as criminal as the ones doing the dirty work. Western media is complicit in genocide and only serves to promote the narratives of the parasitic ruling class. They don't give a fuck

Sickening. Especially the lack of coverage on this in mainstream media.

This I would normally say is unbelievable but in regards to these unfettered ICE agents under Trump! This is inexcusable! #Takebackourcountry

Everything about this is evil. And what's worrying me the most about it is the normalization of it. Every time someone says, "well of course Trump would do this," we are repeating the normalcy narrative. No fucking way! The thing to say is, "Under no circumstances is this acceptable." Period.

The fact that this vile story didn't even rate airtime on mainstream media proves that those organizations are also corrupted by fascist capitalism.

Fascism and authorarianism must not be normalized. Violating human rights must never be considered routine.

100% Kay! None of this monstrous inhumanity can ever be normalized!

This is the third story I’ve seen in as many days that made me literally sick. According to Trump they’re only deporting violent criminals! WTF?! I want to help these people but I feel helpless to do anything. I’m attending protests at least twice a week but that’s all I can think to do. Did this family even have a legal proceeding or did they just get picked up and dumped? Every day we get closer to Nazi Germany. 🤬

The Texas family was on their way to an emergency medical checkup when they were detained at an immigration checkpoint.

And his supporters started rationalizing this all with the whole “only violent criminals” rhetoric, then it became “only the ones breaking the law”, which in their minds conveniently include any “undocumented” immigrant, because they “broke the law” when they crossed the border. As the author states, these fuckers will rationalize this by blaming it on her “illegal immigrant” parents. I hate what’s happening and who people have turned out to be.

I saw a LinkedIn post about this the other day and some of the comments were sickening. The lack of humanity to uphold this obsession with "law and order" that only applies to some is depraved.

This feels so hopeless on a personal level 😞 Like all the calling-my-reps, and voting, and sharing of thoughts/opinions, and donating what little I can, and boycotting the worst of the worst… none of it is enough. What the fuck are we going to do? (I am, as the youth say, crashing out. Riddled with PPA, the stories about kids especially really get to me)

As a family dealing with brain cancer could you please reference the story so that I can help. It’s not solving the bigger issues you are right about but in this area our journey could be helpful to them

I am sorry you are dealing with brain cancer. I have linked to a NBC News article in the text (second paragraph), but it doesn't give much medical detail.

Jo, having written the article about the Mexican family, with two children whose lives are in our hands, please, what are our options to help the family? Where did they live? Who are their Representatives, their Senators? Which Organization, if any, is helping them? Can we write, and to whom? Your ‘wake up’ bugle call should be heard and read in every News outlet in the United States. What is, are the most effective ways to bring this devastating and consequential by impact to our communities? How do we help families who are here and living in constant fear? … besides sending money, which many don’t have to send… to whom, and for what?

As you can see I’ve got questions. Help me, help them. Thank you.

Sadly I have no idea how we can help this family. There are anonymous and currently in Mexico. The Texas Civil Rights Project has a petition, which you can sign https://www.txcivilrights.org/reunite (although, not to sound negative, but I am not sure how much petitions do against fascism).

I have outlined how to help more generally here: https://theprogressivists.substack.com/p/see-no-evil-hear-no-evil-speak-no

I hope it is helpful to you.

I’m not the author, and I don’t have all the answers, but one way I’ve seen people help is by educating vulnerable folks in their communities about the laws surrounding deportation. Many don’t know they don’t have to open their doors to ICE, many don’t know that local law enforcement and ICE will try to dupe you with incomplete warrants. I’ve heard of people using bullhorns when ICE is present and trying to get someone to come outside, and they loudly recite the rights that the people being targeted have.

Thank you. I shall have to pursue seeing how I may help. At the moment having approached people who seemed to have issues about this subject… suddenly they are all just fine…etc. People are frightened, they don’t know who to trust. Sadly!

The end of this piece reminds me of an article from last time Trump was in office - “I don’t know how to explain to you that you should care about other people.” People who don’t see the intrinsic value of a human life are people I will never fundamentally understand

How can we help this family? Is there a crowdfunding campaign to help them with temporary accommodations while they are stuck at the border? Can a non-family member US Citizen escort her across the border to get her treatments? I have lost all faith in our elected officials, how can we help them ourselves?

I am British but stories like these make me feel sad, angry and frustrated. Trump is like an infectious disease that can cause a pandemic of cruelty and shock economics so the wealth trickles up. At the moment, our supposedly “left-wing/progressive party” are making noises to gut social security especially disability benefits. They may not, but it is still scary for those of us who are struggling to work. If we keep going this way, we’ll be deporting young children too and it breaks my heart. I feel your anger and pain ❤️
